I am flying back to Denver this weekend to take care of my mother while she recuperates from surgery having to do with a thing in her neck. I can't tell you any more about this thing in her neck, because I myself cannot know of it. Talk or sight of blood (real blood–I'm completely [...]

Gamepolitics.com has launched a Video Game Legislation Tracker, covering the United States. Using the Google maps interface, it provides an at-a-glance overview of legislation targeted at video games. Some of us need to be calling our elected representatives if we want those red icons turned black.

Gamecloud are reporting that New Line Cinema have removed a sex scene in its interactive promo for the movie Running Scared. This is in response to pressure applied by the “who will think of the goddam children” organization, National Institute on Media and the Family.

I was talking with a friend the other day who lamented the near-extinction of those old text-only games you played with your telnet clients and your Unix shells and, I am told, your parity bits. They were so much more immersive he claimed, because you had to use your imagination. Being that I have never [...]

Not sure if I'll get around to doing a full post tonight, so here are some little scooby snacks to tide you over. Sorry, best I can do.

I just want to clarify that the title of my previous post is singular. I did not say “WoW guilds are dicks,” I said “WoW guild are dicks.” Singular. Just the one guild. At least for the purposes of the post.
And yes I understand that the quest is not controlled by a single guild, and [...]

World of Warcraft players are a constant source
of amusement for me. At least they are since I stopped playing
WoW and can now look from the outside in. While I'm sure there
are some really cool and decent players somewhere on some server, I
never met them during my short stay, nor did I ever see even blurry
photographic [...]

Scott Jennings, game designer extraordinaire, guy who “fixes stuff,” and not-the-executive-producer, is leaving Mythic to pursue bigger and better things. We* here at Amber Night wish Scott and his family all the best in their move back to the southwest.
*There are enough of us in here to make Sybil look like a small gathering of [...]

Dark Age of Camelot was my first foray into the world of MMOs, and except for a 6 month period where I simply couldn't justify paying for 4 online accounts, I've had an active account since a few weeks after launch. My friend Brian introduced me to the game, patiently (very very patiently) walking me [...]
