This is a light posting week folks, sorry. The blog software I’m currently using (Blogware) is giving some folks problems, especially if you’re coming in through Bloglines. There doesn’t seem to be an easy resolution, and I’ve been unhappy with Blogware for awhile anyway. So we are taking this week to do a semi-emergency conversion to WordPress. By “we” I mean my good friend Moxcamel is doing all the work and I’m doing all the “can’t you make it do this?” whining. It’s a symbiotic relationship dontchaknow.

Hopefully I’ll be converted over to the new software by Monday. In the meantime if you’d like to check out the new blog-in-progress, it’s at http://new.ambernight.org. (don’t perma-link to the new site, it’s only a temporary address. Also, please don’t post comments on the under-construction site yet, as anthing can be wiped at any time.) It still looks a little wonky in IE at the moment, but we (again with the “we”) are working on it. Feel free to drop me an email or comment in this post if you see anything that looks to heinous, but remember it’s a wip atm.

I’m pretty excited about this. WordPress is going to let me do some things I haven’t been able to do (like Gravatars, woo!), and it should resolve some of the problems people have been having. The downside is that you’ll have to re-register yourselves. I’m sorry, Blogware is a pretty closed system and there’s just no way to export user accounts. Also, we may lose some of the nested comments, although I’m still holding hope that Mox can fix the importer script to get them.

So hey, take the rest of the week off and go play some games. You’ve earned it.
