I was at my niece’s wedding over the weekend, and I couldn’t even find the time to “dial in” to Amber’s blog, much less do anything work related. NOBODY should be expected to have any spare time to do anything else during a family wedding (and I can’t wait to hear Amber’s wedding story). As far as I can tell, Amber does not work for LLPOF, so she has no reason to take orders from him.

Awaiting the next fanboi comment from Hunter..

Hunter: Have you ever been to Tahoe? Considering what Tahoe is, why would you assume he would be camping rather than at one of the resorts? Also it’s a wedding, that means more than just the bride and groom and the scheduled gatherings. What if Amber wants to hang out with the rest of her family, and…I don’t know, make waffles that she’s never made before on a waffle iron that doesn’t exist.

Based on the info provided by LLPOF, I’d say this is the right decision… now if he said he’d have no connectivity, that’d be one thing, but Tahoe has lots of nice resorts and things where they have phones and probably even wireless internet. Its not like he said he was going to be backpacking through the Rockies or something…

@Joe: This cluster isn’t connected to the internet, so if you’re remote, you have to dial in. It’s not as bad as it sounds, since it’s just a simple text terminal connection. It is an encrypted connection though, which brings us up to the late ’90s I think.

Let me get this straight. The guy is going to be in the mountains where he will most likely have no connectivity. You will be at a wedding for what? Let’s call it 8 hours for wedding + reception because it’s your sister but prob less. That gives you the rest of the weekend that you could do whatever it is that needs doing so the guy can go camping with probably his family. Is there any reason we should think you aren’t just being a bitch to be a bitch? Based on info provided this is the only conclusion.

When he says “dial in”, is that just the bizzare habit people have of referring to any form of remote access as “dialing in”? Or do you actually work in the 1980s?

Thanks for the clarification! I would have prefered one of my many off-the-top guesses, like: “Ladies Love Pissing On Fred” but I’ll deal with the harsh reality of LLPOF. Next time he talks to you just start screaming “rape!” at the top of your lungs, it should work and/or bring help.

Only one person I work with knows I blog, and he’s a close friend. I also refrain from talking about people who I would care about if they saw it. Even with my sister, everything I’ve said about her, I’ve already said to her in person. “Chet” also knows exactly how I feel about him.

I suppose I’m sticking my neck out with regards to LLPOF. People have been fired for less. But I find delicious the idea that LLPOF would go running into my boss’s office whining that the idiot I’m referring to is him.
