For A Small Extra Charge They’ll Send Over A Guy In A Hockey Mask

Sometimes a company does something so ill-advised, so utterly inexplicable, and so far removed from the image they have previously tried to cultivate, that the only explanation is that whoever is doing those goddamned Burger King ads must be out on parole.

Over at American Greetings, you can now send an e-stalker greeting card. And you might think that haha, it's Halloween, nothing wrong with a little black humor.

Yeah.  Well.

Go ahead and fill out that card and send it to yourself.  And wait for the inevitable punchline. (hint: it never comes.)

Now go ahead and send one to mom.

I’d love to check it out, really, but I have this irrational fear that evening visiting those kinds of pages will result in the inter-tubes possessing my soul and filling the void with delicious spyware.

*shudders* I can see something like this actually leading to the arrest of someone. It would have to be followed up real quick with something light and reassuring.

With the Burger King ads, the creepy baby Sony ad, and now this (not an ad but people will be talking about it) I think marketing has entered a whole new level to get your attention. Its the old saw that any pblicity is good publicity. I dont know if it works but someone seems to think it does.

But I agree this is pretty vile. Plus there is no way to authenticate the email so you really could use it to harrass somebody. And I cant even imagine what this would to to someone who has really been attacked in there life.

Dave (someone stole my cool internet name)

Psychochild sent you one of these, didn’t he.

Haha, no he did not. And quite frankly I was a litte hurt by the omission. It’s like he’s not even trying anymore. Maybe we should all send him one for his birthday on Wednesday.

Speaking of which, the half dozen of these ecards I’ve received so far just keep getting funnier. :)
