I’m Also Available For Children’s Parties and Mitzvahs

Don't worry, I'm keeping my day job.  Actually, go ahead and worry anyway.

Sometime in July—during an epic night of whiskey sours, Chunky Monkey, and a marathon session of Kath & Kim—the idea behind The Project was born.  The Project is a video interview with a blogger who has an extremely heightened idea about her own position in the world.  A female Ron Burgundy if you will.  But who to play this role?  Hmmmm.  We scratched our collective heads for weeks, and with the exception of Jacqueline Passey, who, fearing you can catch under-achiever over the phone, would not return my calls, we couldn't think of a single person.  So after much cajoling and chocolate, even knowing that it would stretch my considerable thespian abilities past their limits, I humbly accepted the role.  It was time to bring the tiara out of retirement.

Thus was born Kind of a Big Deal, an approximately 10-15 minute video short written by yours truly, and directed by the soon to be famous "Het," a student filmmaker.  In September, Het shot the bits with my real life guildies, and the rest we shot on Saturday.  I was going to attach some stills, but we're still dumping raw footage onto the computer.  Tomorrow maybe.

We're trying really hard to crank the finished product out by Thanksgiving, but I'm not sure how realistic that deadline is.  Quite frankly I'm experiencing some "creative differences" with Het, who I can only describe as a self-obsessed control freak with delusions of grandeur.  Kidding Het!  She's awesome. (Spoiler: Het cameos as the "slacker student."  Look for her.)

    Looking forward to it!

Is ‘real life guildies’ a secret code for ‘family’?

  2. Amber Says:

Haha, lord no! :) It’s hard enough to have a meal with my family without a fight breaking out, let alone a day long “shoot.” I’ve been grouping with 2 of them for something like 3 years, and the “quiet one” (you’ll see) is the son of another friend who does not appear with the guildies.

    Bloopers! we want bloopers!

Dave (someone stole my cool internet name)

Let me be the first to point out that this is obviously part of some larger marketing scheme for the first YPOJ game. I’m on to you.

An anonymous insider has reported that there is a special easter egg in the directors cut release, featuring some hawt* Het-on-Amber** action. You have to hit the menu button right when Het asks Amber if she can “take her poncho for her”.

*Hawt is the temperature of the salsa that Amber falls asleep in after getting too plastered.

**Het-on-Amber refers to Het holding Ambers hair out of the way while she pukes her lungs out.

I submitted this idea with a funnier headline… oh wait… wrong forum… but still I did suggest the made for YouTube movie “The Amber Chronicles”.

Also, I still insist on my walk on.

    Prior art! Prior art!

  8. Krones Says:

Oh, sometime before turkey day. Hooked on phonics worked for me.

A Thanksgiving date is looking harder and harder to make, but still within the realm of possibility. We still have to add all the sparkles to my teeth and the CGI modellers are still working on my dramatic light sabre battle with the Olsen twins.
