LamePolitics
I'm a big fan of GamePolitics. They do a great job of covering issues that affect gamers world-wide, and they usually do it in a concise and factual way. Which was why I was disappointed to read their Sunday Editorial Roundup, Does PS3 Gaffe Make Edwards a Hypocrite?
I'm not disappointed that GamePolitics linked to Jeff Taylor's completely ignorant and deliberately mis-informed rant. But I am disappointed that they linked to the editorial with not so much as a nod to the fact that there's another side to the story.
Taylor wants you to believe that Presidential hopeful and all-around cutie-pants-who-also-hates-Wal-Mart John Edwards wanted a PS3 bad enough to have a staffer call upon his sworn enemy and ask pretty-fucking-please for a PS3.
Everyone loves a good hypocrite; they make us feel superior just for being consistent, if not competent. Accordingly the Internets are getting a good snort out of Wal-Mart basher John Edwards getting caught looking for Wal-Mart to hook him up with a Playstation 3.
Edwards says it didn't happen that way:
"My wife, Elizabeth, wanted to get a Playstation3 for my young children. She mentioned it in front of one of my staff people. That staff person mentioned it in front of a volunteer who said he would make an effort to get one. He was making an effort to go get one for himself," Edwards said.
"Elizabeth and I knew nothing about this. He feels terrible about this. He made a mistake and he knows he should not have used my name," Edwards said.
Edwards is, of course, lying. I mean yeah, I watch West Wing, so I know how over-eager those staffers can be, especially when Toby is in the midst of yet another personal fucking crisis (for God's sake please somebody punch Toby in the face and tell him to quit being such a whiney bitch) and the terrorist-supporting government of Madeupistan is holding Donna for ransom. But seriously, how believable is it that an enthusiastic campaign staffer, champing at the bit to please his possibly-next-President boss, was misguided enough to throw Edwards' name around like magic fairy dust and make a name for himself?
Seriously, shit like that never happens. Especially if you understand the neural detritus of depravity that is the liberal mind. We liberals love our sex, violence, and video games. We also know that the PS3 will deliver on all 3 of these counts, and so we will do anything to get our granola-encrusted fingers on one, even if it means whoring ourselves out to Wal-Mart.
Yes, it's so obvious now. Come on GamePolitics, you owe it to your readers to cover not only the deliberately mis-informed side of the story, but also the ridiculously mis-informed side of the story.

This whole story is suspect; everyone knows that liberals prefer the Wii.

I thought he might’ve picked the xbox360, what with those crazy King games and all..

Actually, Edward’s claims were posted later on. Still, I’m submitting this to dennis to insure opposing viewpoints are considered.

Hi - glad you’re a GP fan… The thing about the editorial roundup is, we don’t comment on them, don’t judge them. We simply present them as what they are - someone’s editorial opinion…
