Like, Yoiks.

Wherein I bow to comment/email pressure to post something less existential.

Huge workload for me this week, so welcome to the first of what will probably be a short series of lame posts.

Scooby Doo

Scooby Doo is dead.  Is buried with Shaggy, Fred, and Daphne as afterlife guardians, who will ironically become actual vengeful spirits, returning to pull Velma (who had retired from her successful independent PI firm) down into a cold, cold grave.  Everyone hates the smart chicks.

Blizzard is splitting realms when Burning Crusade goes live.  That's what you get for choosing the coolest sounding realm name like everyone else.  Next time you'll make your toons on the Myopathy realm.

EA apologizes (FOX News link, avert your eyes) to 14 year-old boy for the porn he found on his copy of Madden NFL.  14 year-old boys from Utah hate porn. I happen to know this for a fact.

Lake Superior State University (The Fightin' Fitzgeralds!) elitist liberal pk'ers wants to take away your right to pwn.1 (Found at Kill Ten Rats.)

That is all.  Here's your scooby snack.

1 I pulled this link from somebody's blog, but I can't remember where.  If it was yours, let me know and I'll credit you.  Thanks Ethic and Dragon!

Possibly Kill Ten Rats? Think that’s where I first saw it. (The ‘pwn’ thing that is.)

Perhaps it was our site? http://www.killtenrats.com/?p=890

    That was it, thanks guys!

The only problem I have with the Utah-Madden-Porn story is their insistance in every article on this that it was “Factory sealed.” I have a friend who worked at one of those used music places. They went out of business, and one of the items he took home from the closing day was a machine and will “factory seal” a CD or DVD case, provided you have the special order wrapping plastics.

Until someone proves otherwise, I’m going to choose to believe it was the uncle.

I looked at a lot of the words/phrases listed in links from Zubons article, and many of them are words and phrases that have been around since WWII and before. The list compilers seem to have let their need to be cool highlight their ignorance of the language and proper usage within it. Perhaps if they were to read some rather sitting around trying to out-wow their friends.

Aside from that, if I want to “pwn!” someone, or more likely if I’ve been “wtfpwned” I think that’s my right. I remember in the late 80’s there was this major backlash against disco music. All the “cool” people thought it was sooo hip to bash it. I was at this one night club where the music was late 80’s pop - not very dancable or very good for that matter, and they had an I hate disco segment where the DJ would play some disco hit from the 70’s, then scratch the record and break it. I remember being the only one there out on the floor dancing to Saturday Night Fever, and it having been the best tune they ended up playing all night before the neanderthal DJ broke the album. A few years later, Disco was hip again, and now it’s pretty much not-hip any longer again. Regardless if some lame-ass hipster trendsetter tells his or her minions that it’s cool or not, I’ll dance to what I want to, and I’ll say “pwned” if I want as well.

I also think pr0n probably came from somewhere else, tho I wouldn’t put it past a disgruntled EA employee either. Way back when, I worked at a printing company that was like Kinkos only for big companies. One time a disgruntled co-worker mixed in some material from one company into another company’s order. The 2 companies were competitors. The stuff he put in was from a marketing campaign that hadn’t been anounced yet, so it was damaging to the company and us, and we almost lost their business. These kinda things do happen. Tho like I said I think it probably didnt come from EA.

Also, Wii numbers are evil and have no moral compass. Discuss. /ducks

You mean Amber’s Wii is evil and has no moral compass. :)
