Postcards from Rivendell
Wish you were here.

The run to Rivendell as a 15th level scooby snack for really big bears was, to say the least, interesting. Fortunately our trio made the journey with no deaths (I even fell off a cliff) to bring you these screenshots. So while you’re waiting for the servers to come back up on this launch day, enjoy one of the lovlier locations in the game.
Update: Just before leaving for work, I launched the game to see if there was any patching to be done. Fully half of the servers have a wait queue. Brandywine had a 10 minute queue. I’m thinking they might be throttling the most populated servers to encourage new players towards the less populated.

I never noticed how really nice the graphics look.

Since your pictures don’t show it, I’m guessing not, but by any chance did you catch the sunset while you were there? I was accidentally inside one of the buildings and missed it even after having just about every NPC in Rivendell tell me of how the hills appear to glow as if on fire when the sun is setting just right.

I’m impressed by the overall graphics. I turned things up a bit on my *cough* 4 year old PC and still had good performance.
It’s also refreshing to see that swimming in game is not the standard breast stroke. I realize it’s just an animation. I didn’t expect to see my character doing the crawl!

@Trin: I got there at night, missed the sunrise because I was inside, and didn’t hang around for sunset. Dangit! I’ll make a point of seeing it next time I’m there though, thanks for the tip!

I’m going to be really scared when you make a post about the game and include “image intensive (nsfw)”

Look for that post once the Dwarvish Brothels of Edhellion expansion is released this fall.

I also think that they’re throtling the servers to try and spread out the load. I’ve noticed login queues at times where there shouldn’t be one, like at three in the morning. Hopefully it’ll work.
