Coming Up In The Next Issue Of Vanity Fair: McCain Gives “Happy Ending” Massages To Vietnamese Captors
This response to the “Obama as terrorist fist-jabber” cartoon doesn’t go quite far enough, but it’s a start. I’m firmly in the “it’s satire–inept and unsophisticated satire to be sure, but hey whatevs–get the fuck over it” camp when it comes to the The New Yorker cover, but I wonder how funny McCain supporters would find a satirical drawing of McCain’s cowardice and treachery or (haha!) collaboration with the enemy.

In case the outraged guys sort of missed the point, what Amber’s trying to get across is that people tend to get upset when lies spread about their candidate end up as satire on the cover of major magazines. She’s not saying any of that stuff about McCain is true, she’s saying Republicans who think the responce to the Obama New Yorker cover is overblown are the same people who would go berserk over the same treatment handed out to John McCain.

Sweetmeat I don’t see anywhere that she is saying it isn’t true. Typical liberal bullshit. Her candidate doesn’t have military history so she has to help spread lies about a true war hero. Maybe Miss Night can clarify her position unless she’s too busy giving a “Happy Ending” massage to Obama. And somehow I believe her about getting abortion. Probably a monthly occurance.

Just spent the afternoon going thru historical posts on this blog and what do I find besides game posts? Defending a porno star. Attackig Christians. Attacking anyone who isn’t far left of center. Gratuitous profanity. Attacking her readers. Attacking people because they play a game she doesn’t like or probably just isn’t good at. Hey Amber I think I know why your boyfriend left you…..because he can’t stand to kiss that disgusting mouth any more.
This doesn’t even count the “movie” where she makes jokes about getting the police to beat up homeless people by framing them for rape and making fun of the holocaust. Yeah 6 million people starved tortured and killed are really funny.

I think the McCain supporters got a little defensive, and didn’t really read into what Amber was saying. She’s not trying to attack his war record or his patriotism. She understands the service he’s given to our country. That’s not the issue she was trying to poke fun at. The real issue here is that McCain is extremely old and that Republicans are, by nature, cowards. And those are points I think we can all get behind.

See, yeah… I’m a semi-independant republican leaning conservative, and neither cartoon bothered me at all. The truth is, no matter how ’solid’ a political candidate is, they are and will always have to be compromising, power hungry paper tigers. (was that too much ‘easy to ignore’ sloganizing?)
These folk are at the same time neither as good as their campaigns suggest, nor as bad as their opponents portray them.
Seriously people, read between the lines, don’t take teh intertubes at face value, and stop getting so worked up about politics.
